Social media

Default ‘post’ set-up

For the sake of consistency across all of our social media channels, we have developed a grid:

  • As a margin for text and logos, we always have one box around the post. It is okay for images to bleed off.
  • Both text areas and photos must always be aligned on one of the grid lines, horizontally and vertically.
  • Text is always left-aligned.
  • The main frame with rounded corners that we use for the print layout does not have to be used here.
  • The Bebat logo is always at the bottom right, spanning 4 boxes.

Default "story" set-up

For the sake of consistency across all of our social media channels, we have also developed a grid for stories: As a margin for text and logos, we always have one box around the post. At the top and bottom, we include safe zones of 14% and 20% respectively. It is okay for images to bleed off. Both text areas and photos must always be aligned on one of the grid lines, horizontally and vertically. The main frame with rounded corners that we use for the print layout does not have to be used here. A logo may not appear in stories.

‘Story’ CTA

To draw extra attention to calls to action in stories, we include a swipe-up animation at the bottom. It starts with two circles getting bigger. The background darkens to make the text readable on any photo.

Animation for the bars

To keep animations on social media channels consistent, we used standard animation for the bars:

  • The bars scroll horizontally.
  • The text fades in when the bars have been scrolled all the way.

TikTok

We apply the same rules on TikTok as for a story or reel on Instagram. That is, align to the grid and use green or white bars.

Colour combinations

There are two options for a background with a solid colour:

  • Green background: titles appear in white bars with green text. The body copy and the logo are white.
  • Light-brown background (shade: 10%): titles appear in green bars with white text. Body copy is brown. Logo is full colour.

If the entire post consists of an image, it is best to use green bars with white text.

If your image already contains a lot of green, the contrast with the green bars will probably not be strong enough. In that case, use white bars with green text.

Text style

The text in the bars is boldface by default (at least 50 pt). For body copy, we use a regular font format, but bold can be used for certain words to give extra emphasis. A 4-pt thick illustrative line can be placed with the body copy to point to the corresponding image (at a resolution of 1080 x 1080 px).

Placement of text

The text in social media posts must be left-aligned, but it does not need to appear on the left in the post itself. It can shift within the margins, as long as the left and the top of the text box are aligned to the grid.

Quotes

Quotes from individuals are highlighted using inverted commas in the Baloo font in outline style after the actual quote.

You can end with the individual’s name and/or their job title, both in smaller white bars.

Placement of images

  • Full screen: the image bleeds off everywhere, including at the margins
  • Alignment to the grid: the image is aligned to the grid on all sides
  • Cut-out: it is best to add a small shadow to cut-out objects
  • Overlapping: you can also use overlapping images in a carousel, but make sure to place them using the grid
  • Carousel: the logo can appear only on the first image in a carousel, so there is no need to repeat it on each of the images

Colour blocks

To add a bit more structure to a post, you can use colour blocks in the background. Please note! These colour blocks are always lighter and should be only one shade different from the background colour. That is: Green in multiply transparent on a green background White on a light-brown background.

Patterns

You can use patterns to make the background in posts a bit more engaging. You have two options here:

  • A pattern with outlined text: a word or number that repeats. This outline is 20% white, with a thickness of 4 px (at a resolution of 1080 x 1080 px).
  • With icons: use an icon that fits Bebat’s style (see above) and the subject of the post. Use a thickness of approx. 4 px within the layout.

Dont's

  • Use a contrast between the background and text bars that is too low. In that case, it is better to use white bars.
  • Use a background with a linear gradient in a colour that is not within the guidelines.
  • Use background in a different shade than specified in the guidelines.
  • Patterns with filled-in texts and/or icons. Don’t write numbers in the thousands without a comma.
  • Centre the text.
  • Change the colour of the text or bars.
